Job Summary:
Reporting to the Chief Finance Officer, the Director of Information Technology is responsible for leading Honolulu Museum of Art’s (“HoMA”) technology strategy, systems, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and IT operations. This role partners across departments to develop and implement technology solutions that advance the Museum’s mission, enhance operational effectiveness, and ensure secure, reliable access to systems and data. The Director of Information Technology provides strategic leadership to the IT team, partners with leaders across departments, manages technology vendors and budgets, and drives continuous improvement in systems, processes, and user support.

Essential Duties:
- Strategic Leadership & Planning
- Develop and execute a comprehensive IT strategy aligned with organizational goals and strategic plans.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on technology investments and digital transformation.
- Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes, and user experience through innovation.
- IT Operations & Infrastructure
- Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of IT infrastructure, including network, servers, cloud environments, and end-user systems.
- Ensure system reliability, scalability, and performance across all departments.
- Lead system integrations and ensure interoperability across platforms.
- Cybersecurity & Risk Management
- Establish and enforce security policies, standards, and best practices.
- Oversee cybersecurity strategy, including threat mitigation, monitoring, and incident response.
- Maintain business continuity and disaster recovery planning.
- Project & Vendor Management
- Lead IT projects from planning through implementation, ensuring delivery on time and within budget.
- Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and procurement processes.
- Evaluate and implement new technologies and solutions.
- Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop the IT team, fostering a high-performing and collaborative environment.
- Oversee staffing, training, and performance management.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
- Budget & Resource Management
- Develop and manage the IT operating and capital budgets.
- Monitor expenditures and identify cost optimization opportunities.
- Support long-term financial planning for technology investments.
- User Support & Training
- Ensure effective technical support services for staff.
- Promote user adoption through training and resources.
- Partner with departments to understand and address technology needs.
- Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Maintain documentation, internal controls, and audit readiness.
- Support institutional data governance and privacy practices.

Compensation:
HoMA is committed to practicing salary transparency. The pay range for this position is $120,000 to $130,000 per annum with final compensation based on experience, education, market date, and internal equity.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field
- 8 years of progressive IT leadership experience including leading IT operations, infrastructure, systems administration, project delivery, security, budget administration, and vendor management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the demonstrated ability to describe to a variety of stakeholders complex technology concepts and practices as they relate to institutional goals and initiatives.
- Proven project management and multiyear budget management experience.
- Strong knowledge of the following:Microsoft 365 administration
- Entra ID/Azure AD and hybrid identity
- Intune and Endpoint management
- Active Directory and Group Policy
- Windows Server and Virtualization platforms
- Enterprise storage and backup platforms and appliances
- TCP/IP networking, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and core networking concepts
- Core networking equipment including firewalls and switches
- Cybersecurity best practices and risk management
- Honesty, integrity, enthusiasm, perspective, and a strong work ethic supported by commitment and follow-through.
- Ability to work within and support a diverse community of visitors, artists, and employees.
Desired Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in a related field, such Information & Computer Sciences, or Cybersecurity.
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, Security+, Network+, PMP, ITIL, Microsoft, or equivalent professional training.
- Experience managing endpoint platforms from an infrastructure and identity perspective, including configuration standards, compliance, and integration with identity and security controls.
- Experience administering Microsoft 365 environments including SharePoint, Teams, Intune, Defender, and Entra ID.
- Experience developing and managing cybersecurity governance.
- Experience supporting enterprise business applications, CRM systems (e.g., Tessitura), Point-of-Sale systems, ticketing systems, fundraising platforms, collections management systems or related platforms.
- Experience in IT service management practices such as incident, change, and knowledge management.
- Experience in a museum environment or nonprofit organization with multiple sites and varying degrees of need.
- Understanding of Honolulu Museum of Art’s established identity and dedication to advancing it.
