Under the Enrollment Management Division, the Financial Aid and Records/Registration offices are seeking a highly organized, goal and detail-oriented professional to fill the role of Financial Aid Systems Analyst. The incumbent will be responsible for assisting in the design and/or development of functional/technical aspects of the student aid system, and for collecting, organizing, interpreting, and presenting data from various sources to the Enrollment Management team.   This position will also be responsible for generating ad hoc SQL reports and will assist in the set-up of Banner Admin Pages, as well as modifying and creating Banner population selections (popsels). This position requires someone who will be successful working within a collaborative team environment as well as under their own initiative with limited supervision and high accountability, as well as someone well versed in Financial Aid terminologies, including the different stages of aid processing (packaging, disbursement and awarding).


Key Responsibilities/Essential Job Functions
1. Serve as the lead trainer, data tester, and validation expert (45%)

  • Validate that deliverables meet business needs of Financial Aid, Registrar’s Office, and other report owners. 
  • Develop proficiency with systems and technology and act as primary trainer of office staff. 
  • Test, troubleshoot, and validate Banner updates to ensure business continuity for the Enrollment Management team.

2.Ensure data integrity across all systems (25%)

  • Determine root causes for problems of data integrity and data quality issues identified through QA or by business report owners/users.
  • Work with Institutional Research, ITS, and Finance to ensure data is accurate and consistent across the University.
  • Serve as an active member on Data Governance committees.

3. Serve as a liaison with Information Technology and as an advocate for the technology needs of the Enrollment Management Division (15%)

  • Assist ITS with data integration between Banner and other software systems.
  • Work closely with ITS to research, recommend, and implement new technology.

4. Maintain and monitor compliance (10%)

  • Keep abreast of new federal and state initiatives and regulations.

5. Perform other related duties as assigned (5%)

  • Actively participate as an effective member of team by completing assigned duties, accepting additional assignments or reassignments.          
  • Assist with seasonal peaks.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems (or similar program), related field, or equivalent experience
  • Strong communication ability with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Knowledge and experience with aid processing
  • SQL proficiency
  • Ability to analyze code to find causes of errors and revises programs as required to meet industry best practice solutions.
  • Basic knowledge of a relational databases definition
  • Demonstrated skills in documenting technical processes, writing technical materials in a way that a non-technical audience can understand
  • Comfortable building relationships and working across multiple teams

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree
  • Experience with a higher education ERP system; preferred Ellucian Banner experience
  • Experience writing Cognos reports

Other Qualifications: 

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Visa sponsorship and relocation allowance is not available for this position.
  • Report to work obligations to support the department and may require work during HPU’s winter break, if necessary.  
  • This position may be considered an essential position with report to work obligations depending on the type of emergency, campus closure, or evacuation. 
  • Must meet training and background check qualifications and comply with the Protection of Minors policy.
  • Upon hire, candidate must have reliable personal transportation to facilitate travel between to all HPU worksites and other locations as required by the position.  This includes a valid driver’s license and a personal vehicle that is legally registered and insured.  
  • This position may also require driving responsibility for an HPU vehicle.  Due to driving responsibilities, you must meet training and background check qualifications and comply with HPU’s Vehicle Driving policy.
  • Able to work all shifts and extended hours.  
  • Successful candidate will be able to work in an environment that utilize excellent time and stress management skills
